About Pet Me Please

My name is Silke Le Messurier and I am the owner of "Pet Me Please". I have been in business since 2003. My services include positive puppy training in the comfort of your home, gentle behaviour modification with a step by step treatment plan. My service area includes Kingston, Belleville, Stirling, Frankford, Trenton, Brighton, Cobourg and surrounding communities in Ontario, Canada.

Why I became a certified positive dog trainer

In May of 2003, I started my dogwalking and pet-sitting company Pet Me Please.

In January of 2013, an incident between my (then 4 months old) puppy and someone he trusted, ended up being a very negative experience for him. I was surprised that this person, who was a professional, did not have more knowledge about canine behaviour. I thought there had to be a better way.

I had previously attended Pat Miller's seminar: "The power of positive training", but did not pursue it further at that time.

In April of 2013 I listened to Victoria Stilwell speak at the All About Pets show. Her talk about positive dog training was very powerful and moving.

After some research on the internet I came across Norma Jeanne Laurette's Canine Correspondence Studies ( CCS ) course.

Over the past several months I've been studying many books, DVD's; as well as getting hands-on experience. I volunteered my time and assisted with puppy classes in a positive dog training facility. In addition I observed classes in dog training facilities that use a combination of reward and correction (which is just a fancy word for punishment, in my opinion) training methods.

Here are my conclusions:
On the other hand:
If someone is treating your dog in a way that does not feel right to you, please listen to your inner voice. You can always switch veterinarians, dog trainers, groomers etc., but your dog will be your companion for a very long time.

My husband Max and I share our home with Loki, Nala, Maddy and our cats Tanner and Wildberry. They are rescue cats who are brother and sister.

Loki teaches us every day how to have fun, how to live in the moment and not to take ourselves too seriously.
Tanner and Wildberry
Tanner and Wildberry teach us every day that "Easy going" and "Relaxed" IS a lifestyle and not to sweat the small stuff.
This is our new family member. We adopted Nala in October 2013. She is a 7 months old Bernese Mountain Dog. She and Loki have become inseparable.
This is our third dog. We adopted Maddy in December 2013 from Moosonee Puppy Rescue. She is 9 months old and she is our little firecracker: she has boundless energy and is an absolute sweetheart.

December 2015 news: Meet Oliver. We adopted this little guy from "Victory for Animals". He was originally saved from a dog meat farm in Korea and flown to Canada in November. The first family that adopted him did not work out, so he was removed. We are now happy to give him his forever home, where he will be loved and never be mistreated again.
